Fun with the fam

Occasionally, after going to school and working tirelessly for what seems like an eternity, you get a little break to the monotony in the form of the family visiting from far off Florida.

Inevitably this is a time full of fun, a time for a renewal of groceries and car maintenance, family outings to various touristy spots, restaurants, tons of questions about how your doing, who your dating, why haven't we met her or heard about her yet, you look skinny are you eating enough, etc. etc. etc. forever and forever.

That being said, I loved every minute of it, and they came for two weeks. I didn't realize how much I missed my family till they came and visited. Sure, I have the cursory phone conversation every Sunday, but I've never been a phone person and it's not nearly the same thing as talking to my mom and dad in person.

There were plenty of opportunities for conversation. We went kayaking down the provo river, took a lift at Sundance up the mountain and then hiked down past something something falls, and hiked up to temp cave. We visited a nice assortment of restaurants including chile's and olive garden, mixed nicely with a spattering of picnics and homecooked meals together at my grandmothers house. On Sunday we went and saw the tabernacle quire sing, and afterwards stopped at this ginormous furniture store for lunch at their in house swedish kitchen.

Now that they are gone, I'm back to missing them and the moment of sunlight is gone. Until next time.

Post Batman Movie

The batman movie was exquisite. Like a well written book, it kept me captivated and sucked me into the story, while offering breathtakingly beautiful action sequences. The acting was amazing, the characters were well developed, the scenes and setting were beautiful. It was a very dark gothic sort of movie, and focuses very much on the frailties of human nature. The characters all seem very human, as they make tough decisions regarding their loved ones.

The joker was brilliant. A true psychopath, he's exactly sort of person you wouldn't want to get any power. "Some people can't be bought. Some people just want to see the world burn." This sort of hits home. How do you deal with people with no conscience or motive except to destroy? This is why terrorists, and radicals getting weapons of mass destruction is so scary.

How we deal with those sort of people is an even tougher question. What action should we take? I won't make any comparisons that will spoil the movie to someone who hasn't seen it yet, but I will say that the cost of bringing down the bad guys was very high.

Pre Batman Movie

I'm currently sitting at my house, cross legged in my computer chair. My throne. When I am in said chair, I am omnipotent. All the information in the world is at my finger tips.

Today is a good day. I got home from work, and went to subway and got a sub with my friend Josh. The sub was glorious. 6 inches of delicious Spicy Italian goodness for only 5 dollars. Succulent meat, piled with lettuce, green pepper, onion, cucumber, oil and vinegar, ranch, salt, and pepper in white Italian bread. Subway. Eat Fresh.

In about 5 minutes I leave to go see the new Batman movie. I'm really excited about it. Hopes are high, expectations are high. Almost everyone I know has loved it. If this movie fails me... summer is ruined. No pressure. But seriously... it's as if my very soul is crying out for a deliciously amazing movie. I hope this will sate my thirst for high quality cinema.

The new frontier...

Cue the star trek music. Do you have the tune in your head? Excellent. You are now in the correct mind set to begin reading my blog. Expect this to be dry. Really dry. Like the Sahara desert, only without oasis's popping up everywhere for the heroes of unrealistic movies to drink from. Prepare to be bored out of your mind. If you haven't already navigated away from this page be foreworned - the material within this blog will drive you insane. I can now proceed with a clear conscience.
